The true cost of Facebook

First post in an age… I’ve been tending to some other blogs I’ve just created so this has taken a back seat recently.

While idly browsing facebook , I’ve noticed a huge amount of groups dedicated to stopping Facebook from charging money to members and I’ve always found this bizarre. Facebook won’t charge for its service, Google won’t start charging for you to search it either.

It would be an indefatigably foolish mistake for Facebook to start charging fees… The vast membership would move onto the next social network that didn’t charge.

What also strikes me is that the people that start these groups must be very naïve themselves. Do they not understand or notice the amount of adverts displayed when they login? Surely they must spot these highly personalised adverts… Facebook enables you to target an audience using religion, and other personal data… Ironic really, that the people that setup these groups don’t realise that they are already paying Facebook.

The true cost is privacy!
